Sec 316 IRC and foam plastics in attic

Sec 316 IRC and foam plastics in attic

New postby mtCDCcb on Fri Dec 19, 2014 1:26 pm

We live in cimate zone 7. We sprayed our attic with spray foam insulation to get the required R-49. We have an attic that requires access. The roof is framed using scissor trusses. A portion of the attic will be used for storage and mechanical equipment. The other portions will not be habitable as the trusses extend to the floor or the ceiling of the story below. If we separate the portions of the attic that are used for storage with 1/2" gypsum board can we leave the other portions of the attic uncovered since it is completely separated from the other parts interior space with 1/2" gypsum board? In a broader since when can the spray in foam in an attic space be left uncovered? Thanks.
